Meet the DairyBusiness Communications Editorial Staff…
The Right People in the Right Places

The journalists on the staff of DBC media comprise the largest editorial team in the dairy industry with a total of eight editors. Each brings a unique range of expertise and the team members are located in the significant dairy regions of the U.S.

Editorial Director – Dave Natzke
     With 20 years of experience in ag journalism and a solid background in production agriculture, Natzke served most recently as managing editor then dairy editor of Agri-View newspaper in Wisconsin. Earlier, he was on the staff of Wisconsin State Farmer. He has edited trade magazines in the construction and outdoor sports industries, also.
     Earlier in his career he worked in a variety of ag service businesses. He attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison and is a graduate of the Wisconsin Rural Leadership Program. He lives with his family in northeast Wisconsin, the heart of the new dairy belt there.
     Natzke is also lead editor for Dairy Profit Weekly newsletter, provides a weekly segment on DairyLine Radio, new products editor and news editor for DairyBusiness website.

Western DairyBusiness
Editor / Associate Publisher– Ron Goble
     Headquartered in Tulare County, California, the nation’s number one dairy county, Goble has spent a career in ag journalism. For 20 years he was the ag reporter for the Visalia Times Delta and Fresno Bee, covering stories up and down the Central Valley of California. He has handled public relations for several organizations, including the office of the President of UC Fresno and UC-Merced. More recently he had served as a specialty crops editor for Vance Publishing. In addition to his dairy magazine work, Goble plans the Dairy Profit Seminars at World Ag Expo. He has a BA in journalism from UC Fresno.

Eastern DairyBusiness
Editor – Susan Harlow
     Before joining DBC in 1999, Harlow was editor of New England Farmer, published by Farm Progress Companies and was published as a freelancer in a variety of agricultural and consumer titles. She was also managing editor of Turf magazine. She has daily newspaper experience as well. A Vermont resident, Harlow too is an Oscar in Agriculture winner and has been recognized by the New York State Ag Society and the Northeast Farm Communicators.
     She holds a BA in English from the University of Vermont and earned a Masters in journalism with a minor in ag econ from the University of Wyoming. In addition to magazine duties, Harlow edits the Washington update carried in Dairy Profit Weekly.

 

 

Associate Editor – JoDee Sattler
     With a well-rounded career in ag journalism and public relations, Sattler has held staff positions on Midwest ag newspapers and in dairy producer organizations. She was an account executive in a leading Midwest based ag agency, Bader-Rutter, and has been published as a freelance writer and photographer in a variety of ag publications. In addition to her Midwest duties, she also covers stories for Holstein World.
     Currently on assignment with NDHIA.


Holstein World
Editor – Karen Knutsen
     A five-year staff member, Karen has worked in promotion and PR previous to being named Editor. Previously she was PR and Communications coordinator for a major AI firm in Madison, WI and before in a Pennsylvania field office. She grew up on her family's purebred Holstein farm in Maryland and holds a BS degree in animal science from the University of Delaware. She has energized the Holstein World editorial product and leads content development for the web site.

DairyLine Radio
Host – Lee Mielke
     Founding host Mielke, a Wisconsin native, has produced and hosted this daily dairy show for more than ten years, working with some of the leading figures in the dairy industry. His interviews, news and commentary are aired on over 90 stations in the key dairy regions of the U.S. His weekly column is published in farm papers across the country and the DairyLine website sets a high standard with daily updates, commodity prices and new product info.

DairyLine Radio
Host – Lee Mielke
     Broadcaster Bill Baker has more than 25 years experience in broadcasting. Prior to joining DairyLine, he was news and program director at several Northwest radio stations and did on-air production for television and radio stations throughout the state of Washington. He's also won awards for best newscast and spot reporting from the Associated Press. For the past seven years at DairyLine, Baker has had charge of affiliate relations while working on all phases of the program under the direction of founding host Lee Mielke.
