Award Highlights Local Dairy Farms with Unique and Innovative Practices
Syracuse, N.Y. – (April 19, 2017) – Nominations are due April 30 for the 2017 Dairying for Tomorrow award. The award recognizes local dairy farmers and showcases on-farm practices that will help sustain the dairy industry now and in the future. Nominations are being accepted in three award categories: animal care, community/consumer outreach and environmental stewardship. The award is sponsored by American Dairy Association North East (ADA North East), your local dairy checkoff organization. Dairy farms in the ADA North East region of New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and northern Virginia are eligible for nomination. Farmers may nominate themselves, or an organization, neighbor or colleague may nominate a farm.
The award will recognize up to 24 regional winners in eight regions within the ADA North East service area. The overall winner in each category will each receive a $1,000 donation of their choice of dairy products to their regional food bank, or towards the implementation of a smoothie program in their local school. Overall winner will also receive a video and photo shoot of their farm. The honorable mention in each category will receive a photo shoot of their farm.
