FarmFirst Dairy Cooperative - 1st Annual Meeting


This is just an early notice regarding some presentations that you may be interested in which will be held at the 1st Annual meeting of FarmFirst Dairy Cooperative. FarmFirst Dairy Cooperative was created when members of Milwaukee Cooperative Milk Producers, Manitowoc Milk Producers Cooperative and Family Dairies USA Cooperative approved a merger on December 18, 2012.


Details of our “Producer Discovery” Workshop sessions are noted below which will take place on Friday, February 8th. Our Annual Business meeting will commence on Saturday, February 9th at 9:30am. Attached you will find an event schedule and directions to the Holiday Inn Hotel and Convention Center in Stevens Point, WI. If you should have any further questions regarding this event, please contact David Cooper or Nancy Coughlin at 608-244-3373. We will be providing releases on the event at the conclusion of Saturday’s business meeting and will be sure to pass these along to you whether you are able to join us or not.

1:00 p.m. Managing Feedstuffs through a Drought

Presenter: Randy Greenfield – Dairy Specialist for Vita Plus Corporation

Managing and growing feed can be a challenge, but in a drought year it can be nearly impossible. Gain insights on getting through when weather is not your friend.


2:15 p.m. Managing and Exploring the Cow’s Udder

Presenter: Brant Groen – Director of Dairy Wellness/Nutritionist for Form-A-Feed, Inc. Brant was a former dairy management instructor for 34 years with Ridgewater College in Minnesota. A review of the anatomy and a dissection of the udder are planned.


4:15 p.m. Determining your Best Margin & What is a Farm Bill

Presenter: Mark Stephenson – Director of Dairy Policy Analysis at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Finding the right margin (All-Milk Price – Feed Cost) is important for any business – how do you gather the right data. Also, learn how the creation of any Farm Bill can be a challenge.
