June U.S. dairy cattle exports highest in 24 months

U.S. female dairy cattle exports jumped to 8,454 head in June, the highest monthly total since June 2011, according to USDA’s Foreign Ag Service.
Mexico was the top destination for U.S. replacements during the month, at 3,128 head. Russia imported 2,188 head, with Canada third (1,847), and Jordan fourth (1,138).
Year-to-date 2013, the six-month total is 29,575, surging ahead of last year’s total of 26,960 for the same period, but behind the the January-June total of 37,500 head in record-setting 2011.
