La Belle Inc. announces new USDA dual-claim licensed colostrum replacer

La Belle Inc. has announced the launch of Colostrum Plus, the only colostrum replacer for calves on the market to have USDA-Center for Veterinary Biologics (CVB) dual-claim approval and 100 grams of immunoglobulin G (IgG).

Colostrum is the first lacteal secretion of the mammary gland prior to and after parturition and is the first food all mammalian neonates receive from their mothers. It is rich in antibodies called immunoglobulins and contains proteins, growth factors, and a natural blend of vitamins, minerals and essential nutrients for newborns. Bovine calves, like other mammals, rely on immunity being passed to them through maternal colostrum.

Colostrum Plus is formulated with 100 grams of bovine-origin IgG, making it acceptable for a full maternal colostrum replacement for beef and dairy calves based industry standards for replacer products.

Colostrum Plus has earned dual claim approval from the USDA-CVB to aid in the treatment of failure of passive transfer of immunity and to aid in the prevention of death associated with Escherichia coli K99. These two risk factors greatly impact the survival and health of newborn calves. Colostrum Plus has been efficaciously proven to protect calves from these threats with the required IgG content and a full dose of E.coli K99 antibody.

“Colostrum Plus is a product that in its very essence seeks to protect the most vulnerable newborn life from pathogenic and environmental threats, while setting the new industry standard for colostrum replacers,” says Steve Smith, Vice President of Technical Development at La Belle Inc.
