Penn State DairyCents app - Enhanced iPad version now available

The Penn State Extension Dairy Team released an enhanced iPad version of the mobile app DairyCents. This enhanced version has the same features of the original DairyCents app but takes advantage of the larger screen to provide more details to the user.
An advantage of the new iPad version is the menu bar that stays on the screen to allow quick adjustments to the calculations or graphing options. Registered users of the iPhone or Android versions do not need to re-register for the iPad version of DairyCents. By logging in with the same user ID they will be able to access saved data previously entered from another device. This new iPad version is free of charge as is the iPhone and Android versions.

The first feature of the DairyCents App is a standardized Income over Feed Cost (IOFC) calculation using the user’s state specific milk and alfalfa prices and corn and soybean meal prices from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. The standardized IOFC can be calculated for either 65, 75, or 85 lbs of milk production per cow per day and the results are given on both a per cwt or per cow basis. DairyCents will also graph IOFC, feed cost, and milk price starting from January 2012.
The second feature of Dairy Cents allows the user to compare their purchased feed price to the Penn State Feed Price List and to other users in the database who have purchased the same feed. This section of the app allows the user to track over time how prices of select ingredients are trending.
