It’s not too late to register this week to attend the Center for Dairy Excellence annual “Open House” events happening Tuesday, July 15 and Wednesday, July 16, in Fulton and Northumberland Counties, PA.
This year’s “Open House” series will showcase two multi-generational operations focusing on herd performance and cow comfort. During each Open House, you’ll have the opportunity to tour the facilities and see recent innovations.
“Dairy farmers agree they learn and gain the most when visiting other dairy farms,” said John Frey, executive director of the Center for Dairy Excellence. “It can be an excellent opportunity for them to see different ways to do things and incorporate new best management practices to improve herd performance and productivity.”
Both farm families hosting the events have recently updated facilities and have well developed business plans and best management practices to help them achieve their goals. The Open Houses are free and will be held from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., with a picnic-style lunch.
