To help farmers keep themselves, their families, employees, and farm visitors safe, the New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health (NYCAMH) will offer exhibits, information and demonstrations at the August 5-7, 2014 Empire Farms Days at Rodman Lott & Son Farms in Seneca Falls, NY.

A special focus will be on the opportunity to talk with NYCAMH staff about the ‘Dairy Dozen’ requirements that are part of the OSHA Local Emphasis Program. Visitors to Empire Farm Days will learn about NYCAMH services that include on-farm consultations and walk-through inspections as well as worker trainings in English and Spanish.

The NYCAMH to Go mobile unit will be on site and staffed by health and safety professionals. The van will be set up to offer hearing screenings, as well as respiratory fit testing.

NYCAMH staff will be offering interactive farm safety displays and coloring books in the New York Farm Bureau Family Center tent, and be offering sales of personal protective equipment/PPE and power takeoff/PTO shields. Staff will also have information on the NY State ROPS/Rollover Protective Structure Rebate Program which offers up to $865 towards the cost of retrofitting tractors with the rollbars. Visitors will have the opportunity to win a free rollbar for their tractor.

NYCAMH will also have a stationary skid steer demo presented by one of their on- farm specialists.

NYCAMH, a program of Bassett Healthcare Network, enhances agricultural and rural health by preventing and treating occupational injury and illness. Safety and health services include on-farm surveys and safety trainings, on-farm emergency response training, CPR, and first aid. Services are free, confidential, and available in English and Spanish. For more information, call 800-343-7527 or go online to www.nycamh.com.
