1) IDFA Dairy Forum: International Dairy Foods Association CEO & president Connie Tipton said old federal policies – and potentially new ones – are stifling dairy innovation and growth.
2) More MILC details: USDA’s Farm Service Agency set the ‘start month relief period’ for Feb. 1-28, and will initiate payments on Feb. 5; latest FY ’13 payment projections updated.
3) Trends: January federal order prices are lower; cull cow prices are up, but replacement cow prices are down a little.
4) Industry: “Greek” may be coming to schools (it’s yogurt this time).
5) Washington: Immigration reform and farm bill talks show signs of life in Congress.
