NEDPA is committed to "an efficient, profitable, environmentally-conscious and consumer-oriented dairy industry in the Northeast." NEDPA recognizes that, as an industry, we must provide the customer with a product they desire. But when processors use misleading label claims, resulting in a consumer’s misperception that all milk is not equally safe, healthy and wholesome, we must speak out. We’ve already taken action by writing letters to ag media and milk handlers. It sets a troubling precedent to have milk and approved tools of production maligned in this manner. It begs the question of "where will it end"? That’s why we want you to know about Voices for Choices. This initiative is designed to demonstrate to those within our industry that dairy producers are: 1. support the freedom to use FDA-approved technologies and 2. intend to hold industry participants responsible for their actions in the marketplace which damage the wholesome, healthy and safe image of milk. Processors, cooperatives and dairy producers all bear responsibility to ensure that the dairy industry works together to address these issues, setting a high standard for all to follow.
