April U.S. alfalfa exports dip
April 2013 U.S. alfalfa exports totaled 164,391 metric tons, down 25,000 metric tons from March, but still the seventh consecutive month above 150,000 metric tons, according to USDA’s Foreign Ag Service. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) was the top market, at 62,939 metric tons; followed by China, at 49,077 metric tons; and Japan, at 31,700 metric tons.
 Meanwhile, April 2013 U.S. exports of other hay totaled 127,192 metric tons, the lowest monthly total since July 2011. Japan, South Korea and China were the top three markets.
