Work/life balance course for ag women is May 9

Penn State Extension Dairy Team is offering a day to relax, learn and network next month

Bringing work, home and life into balance is not always easy, especially for women involved in agriculture with demands coming from every direction. The Penn State Extension Dairy Team is offering a day to relax, learn and network on May 9 at the Bistro at the Village Green, 403 Village Way, Martinsburg, PA 16662.

Part of the continuing series, Women Rooted in Agriculture, the meeting will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free, with lunch provided through a partnership with Reliance Bank, but registration is required by May 2.

 

 

Guest speaker will be Lela Reichart, vice president of Strategic Development, Sterman Masser, Inc., Sacramento, Pa., an independent, family-owned, agriculturally-based company for multiple generations delivering innovative solutions and extraordinary service. Reichart has been involved in Pennsylvania agriculture for more than 25 years.

With a passion for agricultural business/market development, she previously served as Director of Marketing and Economic Development for the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. In that position, she led efforts to strengthen the message of agriculture and food to consumers, retailers and interest groups and was heavily involved in strengthening the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s commitment to domestic and international trade.

“This day will allow women to hear an inspirational message about their roles, while relaxing and enjoying fellowship with their peers,” said Amber Yutzy, Huntingdon County dairy educator. “We hope it will re-energize attendees and show them the value of finding a balance and learning to say ‘no’ to enhance both their work lives and their personal lives.”

 

 

Reichart will also lead an afternoon session on the “Marketing Experience.” The day’s program is designed to welcome all women involved in agriculture.
