CA: Stop QIP Sues California Depart of Food and Ag

In an effort to end the California dairy quota system, the dairymen supporting “Stop QIP” filed suit Dec. 3 against the California Department of Food and Agriculture.  The suit asks the Court to declare QIP  invalid and immediately cease all operations, claiming the program was not established properly.

Currently, under the quota implementation plan (QIP), funds are deducted from the milk checks of all producers – currently about 38 cents / cwt. Those funds are used to administer the program and to pay out to those producers, about half in the state, based on their quota holdings. The court filing is here.
