Ball State professor helping to distribute 1,500 gallons of milk weekly to food pantries

Prof. Josh Gruver, who teaches courses in natural resources and environmental management as an associate professor at Ball State University, is distributing 1,500 gallons of milk to local emergency food organizations this week.

The project is part of his work with Muncie Food Hub Partnership, a multi-faceted operation that combines a central facility for producers to store and sell crops with mobile food trucks to deliver fresh, local produce.

This milk is excess from Prairie Farms in Anderson (due to COVID-19 distribution issues). So, instead of throwing milk away the Food Hub, in partnership with PurdUe Extension, is taking the milk and giving it away for free.

The Food Hub has other partnerships with area emergency food organizations. Today, he is delivering milk in Selma, Parker city and Muncie. He will be at the Ross Community Center, 1110 W 10th St., in Muncie,  for their food distribution event at 3:30 p.m.

Under the partnership and with Gruver’s assistance, this program will distribute 1,500 gallons of milk for the next several weeks.
