Biogénesis Bagó expands its Antigen and Vaccine facilities

The new high-tech cryopreservation room -one of a kind in Latin America for animal health, reinforces its focus and leadership in the Foot-and-Mouth Disease vaccines sector. 

 

Biogénesis Bagó, the biotechnology company focused on animal health, announces the inauguration of a cryopreservation room that substantially increases its foot-and-mouth disease antigen bank storage capacity.  

This expansion and the constant training of its highly qualified team contributes to reinforce Biogénesis Bagó´s position as the only Latin American company with both production and storage capacity to support countries on preparedness for emergency response in case of a FMD outbreak. 

Biogénesis Bagó’s brand-new Foot and Mouth Disease Antigen and Vaccine Bank is a strategic reserve of concentrated viral antigen cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen that allows the company to produce high quality emergency vaccine within 5 to 6 days, while the regular production process of this type of vaccine could takes at least 3 months.

The new facility built by the company, which aims to meet the global need for “world-class” vaccines to respond to animal health emergencies, has a storage capacity of 60 million doses and the possibility of doubling its capacity with the incorporation of a total of 20 cryopreservers. It was built in compliance with all international standards for vaccine banks and considering COVID-19 special measures.  

This development is the result of the company’s vast experience and constant investment in the fight against foot and mouth disease and the joint work with scientific and technical organizations in Argentina and international institutions. At the same time this public-private approach has allowed the development of highly qualified professionals who are the basis of the company’s technological evolution.
