The Lipinski Rural Initiatives Award recognizes programs, projects, individuals, businesses, organizations and/or institutions that create jobs in rural areas of the Northeast; contribute to the quality of life in rural communities; or enhance rural infrastructure, such as community facilities and broadband necessary for strong rural economies.
For 2022, Farm Credit East and its strategic partner CoBank have committed a combined $50,000 to individuals, organizations or institutions that are undertaking innovative and transformational efforts to revitalize Northeast rural communities. The Lipinski Rural Initiatives Award was established by the Farm Credit East board of directors in 2020 in conjunction with Bill Lipinski’s retirement as CEO to recognize Lipinski’s 25 years as CEO and 40 years of service to Farm Credit East and related organizations.
Farm Credit East is a member-owned cooperative with 25 locations in its eight-state service area. In addition to loans and leases, the organization also offers a full range of specialized financial services, such as tax preparation, payroll, record keeping, appraisal and consulting for farming, forest products and commercial fishing businesses. Farm Credit East is governed by a 19-person board of directors, comprised of 15 customer-elected, two customer appointed and two outside appointed directors.
