Application Now Open for $22 Million Dairy Manure Management Incentive Offered by Carbon A List

Carbon A List

Carbon A List, in collaboration with Danone North America and key industry partners, is excited to announce the launch of up to $22 million in a Dairy Manure Management Incentive, a cornerstone of the Transforming the Farmer to Consumer Supply Chain with Climate-Smart Commodities Project.

This incentive, now open for enrollment, is the first under a $70 million grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to develop end-to-end supply chain partnerships that empower farmers to produce climate-smart commodities.

“Dairy farmers face many economic, livestock and agronomic challenges. Opportunities exist for dairy farmers to build resilience and work towards net carbon neutrality or better,” said Nicholas Goeser, PhD, Principal at Carbon A List. “This incentive removes many barriers for farmers by putting their needs first and providing financial support, technical assistance, and new market opportunities to help adopt climate-smart manure management practices.”

Dairy farmers in California, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin are eligible to apply for funding to implement 14 USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service manure management practices.

Interested dairy farmers are encouraged to apply by February 15, 2024, for early bird enrollment. The final deadline for all applications is March 29, 2024. For more details and application instructions, visit. https://www.transformf2c.com/dairy-mm.

About the Transforming the Farmer to Consumer Supply Chain Project:

This $70 million project, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture through Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities, represents a pioneering collaboration between industry partners led by Carbon A List. Over a five-year period, this project will include initiatives to improve feed management for dairy cows, enhance food-grade commodities for human consumption, and better manage nutrients and manure on dairy farm operations.

It is anticipated this project will engage with more than 350 participating farms across 18 states, covering over 32,000 farm acres and including 48,000 head of cattle. The impact of this project is expected to exceed 57,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent reduction over the five-year period.

Carbon A List guides organizations through the intricacies of securing, managing, and maximizing large-scale project funding in support of farmers and partnering organizations within the land, agriculture, and climate sectors. Their comprehensive services navigate the entire proposal lifecycle, empowering partners to realize and scale their climate ambitions. Carbon A List also offers strategic counsel for overcoming project challenges and extends its expertise into post-award opportunities, ensuring lasting impact.
