Securing and retaining top-tier employees in your farm business is crucial for long-term success and growth. By participating in the 2024 FARM EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION BENCHMARK, you are taking a proactive step towards understanding and enhancing your compensation strategies. This benchmark provides you with a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights into how your compensation packages measure up against other farm businesses in the industry.

Taking just about 10 minutes per employee to complete, the process is designed to be efficient and user-friendly. By investing this time, you will not only receive a comprehensive analysis of your current compensation offerings, but also gain a competitive edge by aligning your strategies with industry standards.

The benchmark data will cover various farm types in New York and other states, enabling customized reports based on farm specialization (dairy, fruit, vegetable, greenhouse, etc.). Participation is free, and farms providing at least one valid employee entry will receive a personalized report and an invitation to a webinar discussing the results. Rest assured, all data entered will be confidential, with only aggregated, anonymous information shared publicly.

Only aggregated and anonymous data will be shared publicly, protecting the identity and details of individual farms. This ensures that participants can contribute with confidence, knowing that their data will be handled responsibly. The personalized reports are designed to empower farmers with knowledge and tools to enhance their operations and make informed decisions. The survey will be available through the month of March.

Steps to complete your submission:

1. Select one or more employees who worked for you in 2023.

2. Gather your data about the regular and overtime hours they worked and how much pay they earned in 2023. Most farms will have this readily available in payroll records.

3. Gather your data about the non-wage benefits they received and how much the employer paid for them. Include items such as the employer-paid portion of insurances and retirement, value of any paid time off, estimated market value of any provided housing, and other items such as provided food or clothing.
