Joe Price of Chebanse, Ill., was presented the 35th Klussendorf-MacKenzie Award during World Dairy Expo® 2026, in memory of Duncan MacKenzie, the 1961 Klussendorf Award winner. While Price has an impressive dairy résumé, most importantly, he exemplifies the standards and character that established the Klussendorf-MacKenzie Award.
His success in the show ring as a junior exhibitor reflected that dedication. Price earned seven Junior All-Americans from 21 Junior All-American nominations. He also exhibited two All-Americans and one Reserve All-American from eight All-American nominations.
Moving into his adulthood, Price went on to develop an impressive herd. At the time of its dispersal in 2010, the elite group of cows had a 112.1 BAA (breed age average) on 41 head, all classified Very Good or Excellent, with a rolling herd average exceeding 28,000 pounds of milk.
While Butlerview Farm shines on the biggest stages, Price is often the person working behind the scenes. His attention to detail, problem-solving ability and resilience keep the operation running smoothly, ensuring that every success in the spotlight is built on a foundation of hard work behind the scenes.
Those accomplishments are significant, but Price’s impact extends far beyond them. He remains grounded and approachable, always willing to share his knowledge, offer advice and help others improve. His leadership is perhaps best reflected in his impact on others. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to mentoring youth and developing future leaders in the dairy industry.
Price’s lifelong commitment to “developing winners” extends far beyond the show ring. He develops strong cattle, strong programs and, most importantly, strong people.
For his dedication, humility and leadership, Price is a deserving recipient of the Klussendorf-MacKenzie Award.
