Katie England understands the challenges dairy producers face because she has lived them herself.
Growing up on her family’s dairy farm in Iowa and later spending eight years as a herdsman and on-farm supervisor, Katie experienced firsthand the daily decisions required to manage a successful dairy operation. She also knows what it is like to be the person calling for support when questions arise.
“My role at DRMS is helping producers feel comfortable with the data they have and the tools they use, while being someone they can rely on when they need answers,” Katie said.
For Katie, one of the things that makes DRMS different is the depth of experience behind the support team. Team members come from a variety of backgrounds, including farming, consulting, research, and dairy records, bringing practical knowledge to every conversation.
Because several members of the team have worked directly on farms, they understand the realities producers face every day.
As more information becomes available to dairy producers, Katie sees an important part of her role as helping simplify the decision-making process.
“There’s data coming at you from every direction,” she said. “Our goal is to help producers cut through that complexity, focus on what matters most, and feel confident in the decisions they make.”
Helping producers save time and reduce frustration is especially meaningful because she remembers what it was like being on the other end of those support calls.
“Producers are busy,” Katie said. “They don’t have the time to be able to try to figure something out.”
For Katie, success often comes down to hearing a producer say they understand what to do next and feel confident moving forward. Helping producers feel comfortable with their data, their tools, and the decisions they make is what makes the work meaningful to her.
