The webinar will feature:
- Dr. Alex Hamberg, PA State Veterinarian and Director of PDA’s Bureau of Animal Health and Diagnostic Services
- Lisa Graybeal, Deputy Secretary
- Jayne Sebright, Center for Dairy Excellence
- Stephanie Shirk, Agriculture Business Development Center
The goals for the webinar include:
- Provide data on HPAI in cattle in PA. Hopefully Pennsylvania can remain negative through vigilance and biosecurity.
- Provide for a quicker response and less spread if HPAI does affect PA cattle so we can better protect our dairy herds and poultry farms. For every dairy with collocated poultry that has gone positive, the poultry also became infected.
- Provide a platform to engage concerned consumers and stakeholders with up-to-date data and reinforce that we are proactively addressing the situation.
- Re-emphasize that pasteurized milk and dairy products are safe and wholesome.
- Enable movement of lactating cattle to fairs and shows without additional testing.
- Allow for movement of lactating cattle to participating states without additional testing (In progress).
