February will have a slight upturn with PPD offsetting component values. Fat and protein were both flat and other solids decreased 2.7%. For our example herd, component prices decreased $0.05/cow/day. February PPD will likely increase $0.27/cwt ($0.23/cow/day) resulting in a total change per cow of +0.18/day. Our 12-month rolling projection for all milk price is $18.00/cwt (Boston), up $0.08/cwt from last month. Notice the big projected increase in protein price for March.
Cheese trades from $1.55 to $1.68 with an average of $1.63, up 2.1%. NFDM trades from 0.97 to 1.10 with an average of $1.05 up 0.6%
