Fill a Glass With Hope® is an effort led by American Dairy Association North East to bring fresh milk to families in need. Funds are raised through grants, corporate sponsorships and individual donations who share our passion for feeding communities.
Fill a Glass With Hope® began when ADA North East, the Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association and Feeding Pennsylvania came together to help food banks purchase milk direct from local dairies to distribute to families in need.
Started by the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank in 2015, Fill a Glass with Hope® went statewide at the 100th Pennsylvania Farm Show in 2016. Thanks to generous supporters, the program has distributed more than 27 million servings of fresh milk since it began through a network of pantries, soup kitchen, shelters, and feeding programs.
Fill a Glass With Hope® continues to expand throughout our region through retail promotions that allow consumers to “round-up” at checkout with donations contributing to milk purchases at local food banks.
Retail sponsors of Fill a Glass With Hope® have included Giant, Grand Union, Price Chopper, Safeway, Shoppers, ShopRite, and Weis.
