I want to thank everyone who attended our conference and was pleased we had such a good crowd of almost 300 people. My gratitude goes to those who helped the conference run smoothly – BIG thanks to Tanya Westfall, and the entire team from the American Dairy Association Indiana (ADAI). Jenni, Allie and team, we could not have done it without you.
We move on quickly to all that is going on with a new administration in both the Indiana State House and Washington DC. Please keep your eyes on your emails as we send out timely updates on critical bills impacting our industry. It is important to make our thoughts known to elected officials. In fact, I was recently invited to a “somewhat” private meeting with Governor Braun where another businessperson and I met with the Governor. We discussed property taxes and I also brought up funding for the Animal Disease Diagnostic Lab in light of the H5N1 outbreak as well as the importance of protecting our dairy labor force. I’m glad the voice of dairy is at the table in today’s political environment.
We are also preparing for our “Adapting Dairy Today For Tomorrow’s Challenges” event on March 13. Sponsored by Elanco and IDP, this training session for Spanish-speaking middle managers will provide leadership training to help build team cultures and continuously improve our operations. Registration will be limited so be sure to sign employees up right away (registration link below in calendar of events).
Our Forum gives us momentum to start the year, and your IDP Board and I will keep working to help Indiana’s dairy industry be the best it can be.
