June 30 Deadline to Transfer Dairy Revenue Protection Policies to Crop Growers

Kristie Matuszewski, Farm Credit East

The Dairy Revenue Protection (DRP) deadline for milk producers to transfer providers is June 30, 2025. DRP is a federally subsidized program designed to help dairy producers manage revenue risk. Producers can sign up for the program at any time, but any existing policies can only be transferred to a different provider once per year by the June deadline.

DRP offers dairy farmers protection against unexpected declines in quarterly revenue from milk sales. To enroll, producers must work with an agent who is authorized to provide Federal crop insurance. Crop Growers’ knowledgeable agents can provide detailed information and assist producers in customizing coverage to fit their needs.

In addition to finding the most effective policy, Crop Growers from Farm Credit East provides customers with valuable industry insights and resources. This includes a weekly webinar series and weekly market reports. Customers also have access to industry leading DRP technology and industry leaders.

DRP has become an important risk management tool for Northeast dairy farms. Market fluctuations, weather conditions and production variables all contribute to an unstable income landscape for dairy farmers. To protect revenue against volatile prices with DRP, dairy producers should contact their local Crop Growers agent. If you currently have a policy with another provider, the deadline to switch to Crop Growers is June 30, 2025.
