New Line-up of Speakers Announced for Week 50 of The Dairy Signal™

Free online episodes offer insights to help producers make informed decisions

Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW), announces the line-up of speakers for week 50 of The Dairy Signal™. Episodes this week will provide dairy producers with updates that will impact multiple aspects of their operations, including finances, government policies, and agronomics.

Will Babler, Principal, Atten Babler Commodities LLC, will provide insights on risk management strategies that can help dairy producers navigate volatile market conditions. Paul Bleiberg, Senior Vice President, Government Relations, National Milk Producers Federation, will share the latest news from Washington, D.C., and possible impacts on the dairy industry.

Matthew Oehmichen, part owner of Short Lane Ag Supply, and Peter Graff, dairy producer from Stetsonville, Wis., will share experiences with cover crops and how they can be incorporated in cropping plans.

Developed by fellow dairy farmers from the PDPW Board of Directors, The Dairy Signal is a weekly series of free educational episodes offering insights and resources for fellow dairy farmers and other food system professionals throughout the value chain. The episodes air live from 12:00-1:00 PM CT each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; recorded sessions are available later in the day.

On the March 9 episode, Dr. Kevin Bernhardt, Professor of Agribusiness at UW-Platteville School of Agriculture and Farm Management Specialist with UW-Extension and Center for Dairy Profitability, and Gary Sipiorski, independent business and financial consultant, returned to The Dairy Signal discussing “The Dairy Dozen,” a set of 12  key factors, ratios and information that are used by lenders as they work with dairy producers.  They shared insights on how to calculate these ratios for each operation and what they mean for a dairy farm.

Amber Radatz, Co-Director of Discovery Farms, provided an update on March 10 of ongoing work, research priorities and opportunities for farmers to get involved in on-farm research and grant opportunities within the Discovery Farms system.

The March 11 episode featured Jeremy Cherny, Founder and President, Tobin Solutions, who shared tips for conducting a security assessment on computer systems, backing up critical data, evaluating cyber liability insurance options, and more.

Each live session offers attendees the opportunity to engage in open Q&A with the speakers through the newly-updated interactive platform.
