Episodes to feature consumer side of dairy industry, including product development and food trends

 

Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW), announces the line-up of speakers for week 63 of The Dairy Signal™. Episodes this week feature a look at the consumer side of the dairy industry, including product development and food trends.

Michelle McBride, Founder & CEO, GoodSport™ Nutrition and Tom Guerin, Research Program Manager, Center for Dairy Research, will provide a look inside how ideas for new products are generated and the process to develop and market them. Molly Browne, Education Manager, Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin and Tina Peterson, National Program Manager, Media Appearances-Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, will share dairy’s role in the latest consumer food trends and how recipes, food pairings and more drive demand.

Dan Basse, Economist and President of AgResource Company, will return to The Dairy Signal with his bi-weekly update and analysis of U.S. and global agricultural markets.

Developed by fellow dairy farmers from the PDPW Board of Directors, The Dairy Signal is a weekly series of free educational episodes offering insights and resources for fellow dairy farmers and other food system professionals throughout the value chain. The episodes air live from 12:00-1:00 PM CT each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; recorded sessions are available later in the day.

Eric Snodgrass, Principal Atmospheric Scientist for Nutrien Ag Solutions, returned to The Dairy Signal on June 15 with timely information on weather patterns, drought conditions and a weather outlook for the remainder of the growing season.

On June 16, Dr. John Goeser, PhD, Director of Nutritional Research and Innovation at Rock River Lab, Inc., and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Dairy Science Department at UW-Madison, and Scott Fleming, Nutrient Management Specialist and Sampling Director from Rock River Lab, shared an update on the nutritional analysis of this season’s hay crop, insights on making the most of available feedstocks while managing costs, and agronomic considerations to ensure nutritional content of hay and forage crops.

The June 17 episode featured Kristin Quist, Dairy Manager, Minglewood, Inc., Deer Park, Wis., and Heather Moore, Owner, Moore Family Farms and Moore Local, Maquoketa, Iowa, sharing their perspectives on starting and growing on-farm businesses to add value to meat and dairy products.

Each live session offers attendees the opportunity to engage in open Q&A with the speakers through the interactive platform.

Topic: New products are being developed and marketed at a steady pace, including GoodSport, a hydrating sports drink formulated from milk. Learn the concept behind this product and how the Center for Dairy Research provides product development, research and troubleshooting for those looking to create something new. Topic:  Learn about consumer food interests and branding, cheese pairings and tips, recipe appetizers to celebrate dairy and current media efforts to promote Wisconsin’s dairy industry. Episode presenters include:

Thursday, June 24
