
McCall, now a graduate of Clarkson University (Civil Engineering B.S.) and Cornell (Structural Engineering M.Eng.), turned the hands-on experience she gained as a PRO-DAIRY intern into a full-time position with the engineering firm she first collaborated with during her internship. She then mentored two more PRO-DAIRY interns this summer and fall.
Her experience highlights the impact of experiential learning and industry partnership, cornerstones of the PRO-DAIRY Internship Program, which connects students with professionals tackling real-world challenges facing New York dairy farms.
“One of our goals is to provide students with meaningful experiences that prepare them for careers while helping address industry needs,” said Aaron Weiss, owner and agricultural engineer at A.Weiss Engineering PLLC. “Madison embraced every opportunity, demonstrated her technical abilities, and built relationships that ultimately led to employment. That’s exactly the kind of outcome we hope our internship program creates.”
