Who’s got the best forage in the land? Find out Tuesday, February 14 in the Sealpro® booth DS 106, World Ag Expo, Tulare, California.
The fourth annual Sealpro® Forage Contest winners will be announced at noon.
Three forage categories were placed by independent nutrition consultants: Alfalfa Haylage, Winter Forage, and Corn Silage. Results were based 50% on a Rock River Laboratory, Inc. complete lab analysis, 25% on actual sample inspection, and 25% on drive over shape, face management, and safety from the sampled pile or bunker photo.
“The Sealpro® Forage Contest is a fun way to showcase the best forages – we are excited to congratulate our winners,” said Connie Kuber, Sealpro® Silage Barrier Films. “There is always something new to learn about forage, no matter how long you’ve been making it. Every year Mother Nature presents a different harvest scenario. The better prepared we are to meet that challenge through planning, communicating with our harvest crews, and keeping an eye on harvest method, the more dry matter and nutrients we’ll have. Our winners are great examples of that kind of care and attention to detail.”
While you’re there, try your hand at forage judging with the You Be the Judge contest. Individuals, FFA chapters, 4-H groups and collegiate teams are welcome. Prize money will be awarded on Thursday, February 16: First place $250, Second place $100, Third place $50.
