
The Fresno State Dairy Club hosted a consignment sale on January 14 at the livestock arena on campus in Fresno, Calif. The 72 lots in three breeds averaged $1741 with a sale gross of $125,350.
Topping the sale was the high selling Jersey which attracted a $4000 bid from Mike Mellow, Petaluma, Calif. She was Crestbrooke Chocolatier 68869-ET a June heifer by Avonlea Joel Chocolatier-ET out of a Colton dam consigned by Kyle Natzke, Fond du Lac, Wis. The high selling Holstein at $3500 was GABZ Dominate Daytona 8574, a March heifer by Dominate out of a GP-83 Solomon dam bred and consigned by Gabbie Gregorio at Acampo, Calif. Eight Brown Swiss were also sold.
A 4-H and FFA judging contest was held before the sale.
Working the box were Chuck Cozzi as auctioneer and Ryan Matheron reading pedigrees. Ken Melvold, Fresno, was sale manager. Dr. Kyle Thompson is head of the dairy department and the dairy club at Fresno State.
