All California dairy producers are eligible and should have received a ballot to vote on a proposal to end the California dairy quota program (QIP) effective March 1, 2025. And in the meantime, the regional quota amount will be equalized for all quota holders at $1.43 / cwt.
According to CDFA, to be counted ballots must be received or postmarked on or before June 1, 2021. If you did not receive a ballot or the information is incorrect, contact Steven Donaldson at CDFA. His email is steven.donaldson@cdfa.ca.gov. Voting opened on March 4.
For approval, the vote must be favorable by 51% of those voting representing at least 65% of total milk or 65% of producers voting representing at least 51% of the milk produced in the state by all dairymen provided with ballots.
