The 2022 North American Manure Expo (NAME) will be held in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania on July 13 and 14.
The event kicks off with two tour options on July 13. The Robotic Dairy and Herbruck’s Layer Farm tour will take participants to a dairy that uses robotic systems to feed, milk, and collect manure. The tour will then proceed to the new Blue Springs Layer facility of Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch. The 2,300,000-layer facility is under construction and will not populate with birds until September 2022, so recent disease concerns within the poultry industry will not impact tour scheduling. This is a unique opportunity for people to see the production and manure handling technologies implemented in the most modern, nearly complete farm. The second tour option is a Stream Tour. The tour will highlight stream health at a site in an agricultural landscape where recent stream restoration efforts and best management practices were installed. The tour will continue to a headland mountain stream to provide a comparison between stream health indicators at both locations. Both tours have limited bus space and require pre-registration.
The afternoon of July 13 includes an open trade show and a Manure Agitation Demonstration (2:00-4:00). The demonstration will occur at a local dairy where vendors will demonstrate their latest liquid manure agitation technologies. Attendees must board a bus to travel to the dairy. To wrap up the day (5:00-7:00), those who work with liquid manure may also want to attend Puck Pump School or a special session on aerobic manure treatment.
Day 2, July 14, kicks off with tough choices between four simultaneous education sessions (8:00-9:30). There will be three 30-minute presentations in each of four education tents. Experts from Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Ohio, Connecticut, Arkansas, Michigan, North Carolina, and Indiana will present. Show grounds will be open all day. Over 60 vendors will display the latest in manure handling technologies, and many will show off their equipment during side-by-side solid manure (10:30-12:00) or liquid manure (2:00-3:30) application demonstrations. Credit sessions will wrap up with a live action manure spill response demonstration.
NAME is a 2-day event on July 13 and 14, 2002 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Pre-registration for tours with limited-space bus seats is required. All NAME tours, education sessions, and activities are open to the public. Please show up early since you may experience traffic and it will take time to get from your car to the tour or educational session you plan to attend.
