It’s time to start preparing for changes to Daughter Pregnancy Rate (DPR), Cow Conception Rate (CCR), Heifer Conception Rate (HCR), and Early First Calving (EFC) coming in August 2026!
The result of a two-year foundational review of the female reproductive performance traits are 10 updates to the trait portfolio, including a new trait, First Service to Conception (FSC). The updated models do a better job of separating genetic improvement from management effects and accounting for how on-farm practices have changed in the last 20-25 years. This leads to more representative genetic evaluations.
These changes and new traits do not include a revision to weights in the lifetime merit indexes: Net Merit $, Cheese Merit $, Fluid Merit $, or Grazing Merit $.
