Agricultural Communicators Network announces two scholarship opportunities for 2023

Undergraduate college students pursuing agricultural communications careers should apply now for up to $3,000 in scholarships from the Agricultural Communicators Network (ACN, formerly the American Agricultural Editors Association – AAEA).

Two scholarships will be awarded in 2023 to outstanding members of Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT) for their achievements in leadership, career-related experiences, academics and service. Students who do not have active ACT chapters at their colleges or universities may join the National ACT at any time by paying the $17 membership dues.Two finalists will be selected among applicants to participate in an in-person interview for the top scholarship: The Dr. James Evans Scholarship, which is offered in the amount of $3,000. The second-place winner will receive the Past Presidents’ Scholarship of $1,500.The interview will take place during the Agricultural Media Summit, the largest annual conference of agricultural communicators in the U.S. The two finalists will each receive $1,000 travel stipends to attend the Summit, which provides opportunities for networking and professional development through workshops and speakers from industry professionals. This year’s Summit will be held in Palm Springs, California, from July 29 to Aug. 2, 2023.Applicants must be current members of ACT and enrolled as an undergraduate student at a university or college during the time of their application. Recipients will be selected based on the following:

•      ACT involvement, leadership activities, and other campus organizational involvement (30%)

•       Academic achievements (20%)

•       Career-related experiences (20%)

•       Reference recommendations (20%)

•       General neatness and completion of application (10%)

Established by Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT) in 1993 and adopted by the Ag Communicators Network in 2004, ACN scholarships are awarded to outstanding members of ACT for their achievements in leadership, career-related experiences, academics and service. The top ACN/ACT scholarship given each year is the Dr. James Evans Scholarship.
