Across the country, farmers and ranchers are under tremendous pressure, squeezed by high costs, low prices, and growing uncertainty about the future of American agriculture.
The American Farm Bureau Federation has delivered a clear message to the President and to Congress: America’s farm economy is in crisis, and we need action now.
In the short term, we’re calling for bridge payments before the end of 2025 to help farmers weather the downturn. We’re also urging long-term reforms to strengthen markets, expand trade, and restore profitability for America’s producers.
Here’s what we’re asking Congress to support:
- Fair, enforceable trade agreements that open markets and hold partners accountable.
- Support for biofuels, including year-round sales of E15.
- Review of beef imports that could threaten America’s food independence.
- Restoration of whole milk in schools to boost dairy demand.
- Protection of interstate commerce from conflicting state regulations.
- Investigation into input pricing to ensure transparency and fairness.
- Prioritization of American-grown fruits and vegetables in federal purchasing programs.
These actions will help keep family farms in business and ensure the next generation can continue feeding, clothing and fueling the world.
Now, we need your help to make sure lawmakers understand what is at stake.
Please take a moment to send a message to your members of Congress today.
