Barn safety grant for veteran farms

One award of up to $1000 will be made

The PA Veteran Farming Project announces that applications are open through September 9, 2022, for the John Nolan 2022 Barn Safety Mini-grant. Eligible applicants are honorably discharged veterans who own and operate for-profit farms in Pennsylvania.

Applications for purchases such as fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, or other equipment that will enhance the safety profile of the farm for people and livestock will be accepted. This is a competitive grant program and one award of up to $1000 will be made.

John Nolan is a United States Marine Corps veteran and IT professional at a major corporation in PA. Since 2021, John has donated 45 hours in 2022 as a volunteer at a dairy farm in eastern PA, assisting the family with the livestock, field work, and installing a video surveillance system to monitor barn activity during calving season. In partnership with his employer, he is funding this mini-grant with a donation from the company in recognition of his volunteer efforts in the community.
