Commissioner Miller Praises President Trump for Securing China’s Commitment to buy $17 Billion in Agricultural Products

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller praised the Trump administration for delivering a new commitment from China to purchase at least $17 billion annually in U.S. agricultural products over the next three years, alongside renewed soybean purchase agreements and expanded access for American beef and poultry exports.

“Thanks to the tireless efforts of President Trump, Texas soybean growers and producers across the country can rest easier knowing their product will find a strong and stable market,” Commissioner Miller said. “This deal is a massive win for America’s farmers and couldn’t have come at a better time. This year’s soybean harvest is predicted to be the second-largest yield on record.”

According to the White House, the agreement included commitments for additional agricultural purchases beyond existing soybean agreements and aimed to restore and expand market access for U.S. beef and poultry products.

As a national leader in cattle production, cotton, soybeans, poultry, and numerous other agricultural commodities, Texas producers count on strong international trade relationships.

“International trade matters to Texas agriculture,” Commissioner Miller added. “When foreign markets are open, Texas

producers have more opportunities to grow, invest, and pass their operations on to the next generation. President Trump’s successful negotiation of this agreement sends a positive signal to producers who have weathered years of uncertainty in global markets.”

China has historically been one of the largest export destinations for U.S. agricultural goods, including soybeans, beef, cotton, and feed grains. The renewed purchasing commitments could significantly increase overall U.S. agricultural exports and improve market stability for producers nationwide.

“President Trump is a tremendous champion for Texas farmers and ranchers,” Commissioner Miller said. “They produce the safest, highest-quality agricultural products in the world, and expanded trade opportunities is good news for rural Texas and American agriculture. Strong export markets create jobs, strengthen commodity prices, and help ensure our producers remain competitive on the global stage.”
