Dairy Policy in the Trump Era: The First 250 Days

Join us for a panel discussion featuring key voices in federal dairy policy as we explore how the Trump Administration’s first 250 days are reshaping the U.S. dairy landscape. From regulatory rollbacks to critical issues around ag labor, trade and the push to bring back whole milk, this conversation will examine what’s changed and what’s still on the horizon. Panelists including a dairy farmer, a cooperative leader and the CEO of the nation’s leading dairy advocacy organization will dive into the Trump Administration’s approach to food and agriculture policy and highlight its implications for the entire dairy supply chain.
SPEAKERS
Gregg Doud is President and CEO of NMPF. He brings extensive leadership experience in agricultural policy, economics and trade, having served as Chief Agricultural Negotiator in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, president of the Commodity Markets Council, chief economist at the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and staff member for the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee. Most recently, he was Vice President of Global Situational Awareness and Chief Economist at Aimpoint Research.

Sheryl Meshke is the CEO of Associated Milk Producers, Inc. (AMPI), a leading dairy cooperative headquartered in New Ulm, Minnesota. She has dedicated her career to advancing cooperative leadership, dairy manufacturing and sustainable growth. Under her direction, AMPI has strengthened its position in the marketplace through innovation, collaboration and a focus on quality and operational excellence.

Brian Rexing is a dairy farmer from Fort Branch, Indiana, where he and his family milk 1,200 cows and farm 3,500 acres, with crops largely used to feed their herd. He and his wife, Rannell, have led their current operation for 15 years, building on a lifetime of family involvement in dairying. Rexing is a farmer-owner of Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), where he serves as chairman of DFA’s Southeast Area and on the cooperative’s Corporate Board.

Alan Bjerga, the moderator for this session, is Executive Vice President of Communications and Industry Relations at NMPF. He leads communications strategy, member outreach, and industry engagement, and serves as host of the “Dairy Defined” podcast and author of NMPF’s Dairy Defined thought leadership series. Before joining NMPF, he was the lead agriculture writer for Bloomberg News, reporting on farm policy, trade, rural economics and global food security.
