Penn State Extension recently welcomed Emily Fread as the new Dairy Educator in Union County.
Emily recently moved to Pennsylvania from upstate New York, where she completed her M.S. in Animal Science at the W. H. Miner Agricultural Research Institute in conjunction with the University of Vermont. Located in the North Country of New York, Miner Institute strives to provide dairy farmers locally and nationally with valuable production-based research. During Emily’s time at Miner Institute, she had the opportunity to lead and work on various research projects and work with the Institute’s wide-reaching dairy outreach program.
This year, Emily took a brief hiatus from graduate school to spend six months working on a dude ranch in the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado. Emily is excited to be working with dairy producers again and is eager to meet the dairy community in this new region of the country.
Emily Fread can be reached at the Penn State Extension Office of Union County. She can be reached via office phone at 570-556-4748, 704-301-3441 (cell) or email at evf5337@psu.edu.
