As schools continue planning menu options for the 2026-2027 school year, ADA North East is encouraging school food decision-makers to include whole and 2% milk on lunch menus and on the products they ask vendors to bid on for the upcoming school year. We continue our outreach efforts and support of school districts as they plan nutritious, delicious meals for students.
Based on the information we have gathered to date the schools that are already offering whole and/or 2% milk include:
- 103 school districts with 513 schools and an enrollment of 266,870 students.
In the ADA North East region there are:
- 1,845 school districts with 15,754 schools and an enrollment of 7,456,367 students
Dairy farmer Angelique Walason from Imler, Pa., and 12-year school board director at Chestnut Ridge School District, contacted the superintendent and school food service director when the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act passed. As a result of her efforts, the elementary school now serves Ritchey’s whole milk and the middle and high school students are served Galliker’s whole milk, in addition to 1% chocolate milk for all meals and fat-free vanilla or strawberry milk options as they are available.
