Free Animal Care Record-Keeping Books Now Available

 

To make it easier to comply with guidelines outlined in the National FARM Program, we are offering free copies of animal care protocol record-keeping books to Pennsylvania dairy producers and veterinarians. With more than 2,000 books distributed to date, the record-keeping books are intended to help dairy farmers document standard operating procedures, regular care, treatments of their dairy animals, and other guidelines outlined in the FARM Program. One book should cover one program year for a smaller-sized herd.

We have worked closely with several veterinarians and the National FARM program staff over the past year to publish the first round of books to help dairy farmers manage their records and animal care efforts on the farm. With so many producers finding value in them, we recently updated them and printed a second round of books that include a family cow care agreement and other additions that individuals across the dairy industry requested.

Dairy producers can order copies directly for their farm, and veterinarians can order free copies of the books for their dairy clients. Click here to request a free copy of the book to be mailed to you or call 717-346-0849.

The record-keeping books were compiled by the Center for Dairy Excellence, using resources from the National FARM Program, AllTech, the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, Mid-Maryland Dairy Veterinarians, and Valley Mobile Veterinary Services.
