Grants Still Available for PA Dairy Farms to Form Advisory Teams

Grants Available on a First-Come, First-Served Basis

Whether you want to improve profitability, develop a business plan, pursue future opportunities, or smooth the road for transition from one generation to the next, using a team approach and a trusted team of advisors can help strengthen your decision-making process. The Center for Dairy Excellence leverages funds provided through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to provide grants to individual dairy farms to establish either a Dairy Profit, Transition or Transformation Team – and there are still a few grants left in this fiscal year, available on a first-come, first-served basis!

Pennsylvania dairy farms are eligible to apply for an On-Farm Team Grant. You must have lactating cows on your facility to apply for a grant. Farms with 35 cows or more are eligible to apply.

About the Team Program Grants

Application Window: They opened on September 1, but a few more grants are still available in 2024 on a first-come, first-served basis.

About the Grant: If you’re looking to improve profitability, create a transition plan, or plan a major business transformation on your dairy, the Center’s On-Farm Team Grant Program can help you establish on-farm teams and take advantage of professional consulting resources to make strategic decisions at the farm level. 

Who Can Apply? Pennsylvania dairy producers with 35 cows or more.

Types of Projects:

• Identifying bottlenecks on the farm that could improve profitability (Profit Team)
• Navigating the transfer of assets and creating a succession plan that’s fair to everyone involved (Transition Team)
• Analyzing different factors involved in a transformation project, such as installing robots, to decide if it’s a good fit for your operation (Transformation Team)

Funding: $1,500 – $3,500 to cover team expenses
