Hands-On Dairy Animal Care Training March 20th and 21st

Cornell Cooperative Extension offers two regional workshops for dairy farmers on March 20^th and 21^st

Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Southwest New York Dairy, Livestock, and Field Crops team is hosting two opportunities for local dairy farmers to gain valuable, hands-on training.  This Dairy Animal Care Training event will be held Wednesday, March 20^th and Thursday, March 21^st from 9:30am to 3:30pm each day.

This program will update dairy farmers with the 5.0 FARM Animal Care Program Version and provide them, and their employees, with dynamic hands-on training which will cover the topics required to comply with the annual educational FARM requirements. Participants will receive certificates to acknowledge their participation in the training.

Programming will be offered in English and Spanish. Cost is $15 and includes lunch.

Who should attend?

• Dairy farm owners, managers, and employees who want to learn more about the FARM Animal Care Program updates and receive continuing education credits.
• Dairy farmworkers or anyone who wants to learn more and gain hands-on experience in animal care.

Topics covered: Physical exam and non-ambulatory cow management, Dairy stockmanship (heifers), Pre-weaned calf care, Euthanasia, and Fitness for transport.
