Judges have been announced.

On Friday November 10 and Saturday November 11, the 2023 Holland Holstein sHow will take place at WTC-Expo in Leeuwarden (The Netherlands). We are pleased to announce the 4 internationally renowned judges for this show. We are happy to introduce them to you!

Holstein & type heifers Young Breeders

Luc Sassel comes from Rives-d’Andaine in Normandy (France). He owns a dairy farm with 350 cows, of which 300 are Holstein, 30 Red Holstein, 10 Jersey and 10 Brown Swiss. Every year he takes some of his cows (with the prefix Rives d’Or) to 5 or 6 shows, including the national show in Paris. Luc previously judged in Luxembourg, Germany, and France. He is looking forward to judging our show

and spending a few days with breeding enthusiasts who have a passion for beautiful cows. This will be his first appearance in the Netherlands and Luc is looking forward to getting to know the breeders and the breeding goals in the Netherlands. Luc will judge the Holsteins and the heifer type classes at

the junior Young Breeders show.

Red Holstein & type heifers Young Breeders

Markus Mock is one of the most famous German Holstein and Red Holstein judges. He and his family own a dairy farm in Markdorf near the Bodensee (Germany). There, 140 cows are milked with robots. Markus and his family often take part in regional and national shows themselves. In 2012 he already

judged at the NRM, now the Red Holstein cows and the heifer type classes at the senior Young Breeders show are on the program for him. Markus judged many German and European shows, with highlights being the Holsteins at the European Show in Colmar (2016) and the Red Holsteins at the Swiss Expo (2017).

Senior Young Breeders Clipping & Showmanship

Quim Serrabassa from Tona (Spain) has been moved by cows from an early age. He has been working in the breeding industry for thirty-five years, partly as a

cowfitter. Quim has participated in most national and international shows in Europe, USA, Canada and many shows in Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, France, and Switzerland. There he was able to prepare and show many champions in

the ring, with great pleasure. He has been involved in several Young Breeders schools. Quim is grateful to be able to judge the Young Breeders: he enjoys working with young, enthusiastic people in dairy farming!

Junior Young Breeders Clipping & Showmanship

Michael Halliwell from Tarporley (UK) works for Holstein UK. Before that, he was a professional cowfitter for many years and was also involved in the Young Breeders school in Battice. Through his network, Michael encountered many breeders all over the world. He sees those contacts as the greatest reward of his work. Young people can participate in a wonderful sector and learn a lot from

others. Everyone wants to win at a show, but it’s mainly about the experience you take with you: that broadens your view, and you keep getting better. By putting in extra work, there is a greater chance of a good result. Do your best, enjoy the experience, learn from it, and take it as it comes!
