Somedays in the dairy industry, it can feel like we are hitting home runs, and other days we’re just working to get to first base. No matter the situation, it is always better if we are working together. Summer is off to a busy start and I look forward to seeing many of you at our “Cows and Curveballs” event on June 14. It should be a great night at the ballpark.
While kids are enjoying summer vacation, public policy work is always in motion and impacting our industry. The Indiana State legislature wrapped up its work in late April, and our friends at Indiana Farm Bureau provide a recap a bit later in this newsletter. On the federal level, there is a great deal of activity to track and no, there still isn’t a Farm Bill. We are grateful for our many industry partners who continue to lobby and advocate for the interests of the dairy industry.
Here at home, we are looking forward to our Mobility Workshop taking place on August 13 at Sunshine Dairy in Andrews, Ind. Hoof health is a huge issue when it comes to animal well being and productivity, and managing mobility is an important topic for training and learning. A bit further down the road, we are already working on Regional Meetings for February 2026.
As I travel the state working with IDP members, I am always impressed with the dedication and determination our members share in advancing the dairy industry. We’re always swinging for the fences!
