PDP Business Management & Advanced Finance Workshop designed to enhance financial competencies.
Dairy professionals looking to expand their financial and business management skills have an opportunity to learn and apply advanced management concepts to the decisions they make in their operations. The 2026 Business Management & Advanced Finance Workshop, presented by Professional Dairy Producers® (PDP), is set for Wednesday, Oct. 28, and Thursday, Oct. 29, at Compeer Financial in Sun Prairie, Wis.
The two-day program is designed as a capstone learning experience for dairy producers and professionals who have a working knowledge of financial concepts and are ready to expand those skills for longer-term, more strategic business growth. The workshop allows attendees to learn with a diverse group of dairy professionals with different perspectives and experiences, creating opportunities to consider management challenges from multiple points of view. In addition, assignments completed before the workshop help participants prepare for the sessions and bring their own operating data and management questions into the learning experience.
“The biggest takeaway for me was understanding how important financial literacy is,” said Cody Hawkins, a Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin dairy producer and previous attendee. “No matter how good you are at farming or how well you care for animals, the success of your farm depends on making good business choices. PDP’s financial courses emphasize calculating the return on investment before making major decisions.”
Facilitated by nationally recognized agricultural management expert Dick Wittman of Wittman Consulting, the workshop goes beyond understanding financial statements and budgeting. Participants will work through case studies, financial tools and interactive exercises focused on evaluating business performance, managing growth, strengthening family business governance and making informed financial and management decisions.
