International Dairy Foods Association

With recent focus on foods at both the federal and state levels, there are new options to communicate on your product labels. However, product labels must meet regulations set by FDA, USDA and states.

This two-session training opportunity will provide you and your staff with the essential information you need to produce compliant and effective labels. This webinar series will provide a general overview of dairy labeling regulations and review the history and jurisdiction for labeling regulations; requirements for the statement of identity, including flavor labeling; net quantity of contents statements; nutrition labeling; ingredient declarations, and allergen declarations, including recent work on allergen thresholds.

The webinar series will also cover marketing claims, including nutrient content claims such as reduced sugar, low sodium and high protein, as well as lactose free, gluten free, natural and other labeling terms, such as Grade A, Kosher, and the Real Seal. The series will also address compliance with the USDA’s Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard.

The webinar will also cover new and upcoming policy changes that may affect your product labels, including:

  • State requirements such as warning labels, date labeling and recyclable packaging claims
  • Third party “non-UPF” icons
