Mitchell Endres and Sydney Flick Receive National Young Jersey Breeder Award

The American Jersey Cattle Association named Sydney Flick and Mitchell Endres of Jazzy Jerseys in Lodi, Wis., as one of this year’s six Young Jersey Breeder Award winners. They were recognized by the USJersey organization on June 18 at the 158th annual meeting in Springfield, Mo.

The Young Jersey Breeder Award is granted to individuals or couples who are between the ages of 28 and 40 on January 1 of their nomination year. The award recognizes the winners’ expertise in dairy farming, breeding Jersey cattle, participation in programs of the American Jersey Cattle Association and National All-Jersey Inc., and leadership in Jersey and other dairy and agriculture organizations.

This brother-sister duo are carrying on the legacy of their parents, Dave and Patty Endres, who previously won this award. The siblings, along with their brother Vincent, traveled with their parents to Jersey events across the country, deepening their appreciation for the Jersey breed and the community it has.

The siblings were encouraged by their parents to get involved. They have experience exhibiting cattle at the fair, participating in 4-H and FFA, completing farm tasks, and participating in national Jersey programs. They embraced every opportunity along the way.

Flick and Endres both left home, but later returned with new skills and perspectives. Flick studied and earned degrees in Dairy Science and Life Sciences Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and worked for three years for the American Jersey Cattle Association, where she was an area representative and type traits appraiser. Endres earned his CDL and heavy equipment certifications, then worked in excavation and landscaping. He later returned to dairy full-time.

The family came together to lead Endres Jazzy Jerseys, a top-producing Jersey herd. On their 1,300-acre farm, the family cares for more than 800 Registered Jerseys. Their AJCA lactation average last year on 615 cows was 20,150 lbs. milk, 981 lbs. fat and 762 lbs. protein.

Flick is responsible for oversight on people, cows, accounting, the store, meat retail, and co-managing the family’s Beck’s Seed dealership, while Mitchell leads the cropping and nutrition programs. When the two combine, they seek ways for improvement.

The family is committed to supporting Jersey programs like REAP, Equity and JerseyMate. While doing so, they ensure future generations can more the breed forward.

The siblings also believe in serving the community. They are active in the Columbia County Farm Bureau, their local fair, and several outreach efforts. Their farm is open for consumers and helping connect the public with modern dairy farming and sharing the story of agriculture.

Beyond the farm, Flick is secretary-treasurer of the Wisconsin Jersey Breeders Association and is active in local dairy promotions. The siblings both act as ambassadors for the breed and industry, including on social media, where Flick has a following on TikTok for her farm videos.

Flick and Endres’ story represents the power of family, mentorship and continuity. The community watched their parents build a foundation, saw three siblings be raised in that tradition, and today the siblings are continuing to carry on the operation while preparing the next generation of Jersey enthusiasts.
