MMPA celebrates grand opening of Remus facility, announces cottage cheese partnership with Good Culture

 

The Remus plant signals MMPA’s continued evolution as a dairy processor focused on building new markets for members’ milk. With investments in Remus and recent growth at its Ovid plant, MMPA is expanding its ability to meet changing consumer demand, grow with innovative customers and create long-term value for the dairy farm families who own the cooperative.

Together, we’re creating new markets for our milk, supporting our communities and helping deliver nutritious dairy products to more consumers.”

“I’m truly excited to see this great day for Remus, great day for Michigan, and honored to be part of the celebration as a legislator,” said Congressman John Moolenaar (MI-02). “It’s important for Michigan because we’re the top six dairy producing state and it’s fantastic what’s happening here.”

“Michigan continues to be a real source of innovation, and an example that hard things can get done, whether it’s repurposing facilities and bringing life into them, or giving farms the opportunity to make more money by adding more value to the products they’re doing,” said Tim Boring, Director of Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. “The impact of these partnerships has been emphasized here today, and it does take a lot of partners coming together. We’re proud at MDARD to be a small piece of that.”

The grand opening event also featured remarks from Michigan Economic Development Corporation Senior Business Development Manager Brenda Flory, Wheatland Township Supervisor Lee Carte and Mecosta County Commissioner Chris Zimmerman followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Remus facility. Leprino President & CEO Lance FitzSimmons also joined in the festivities reflecting on their history with the facility and their continued partnership with MMPA.

The Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) is a member-owned and operated milk marketing cooperative known for producing high-quality, award-winning dairy products. Established in 1916, MMPA is the 9th largest U.S. dairy farmer-owned cooperative serving members in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Wisconsin.
