Join us for a pasture walk and lunch as we explore topics of multi-species grazing, soil testing, forage testing, and fence building.
Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Southwest New York Dairy, Livestock & Field Crops Program (SWNYDLFC) is excited to partner with the Chautauqua County Soil and Water Conservation District and WNY Crop Management to host a pasture walk at The Vanstrom Homestead in Kennedy, NY on Saturday, June 20th from 11am – 2pm. The day will start with a farm tour of Sam and Eric’s multi-species grazing operation, encompassing beef, sheep, and chickens. Then, participants will break off into groups to visit hands-on skills stations covering forage sampling and results interpretation; soil sampling and results interpretation; and a demonstration of high tensile fence building.
